Throughout your undergraduate career, you will be exposed to many case studies, academic theories and quizzes. Case competitions are a great way to test all your skills in critical thinking, leadership, teamwork and communication. Read below for 5 top reasons as to why you should sign up for the CPABC Case Competition today:

1) Apply your business strategy knowledge and gain hands on experience

The CPABC Case Competition is a not only an accounting case competition. In fact, we recognize that accountants face diverse business problems every day and want to mirror the same challenge with the case competition. The two rounds of cases are both focused on business strategy and using creative ways to solve organization problems. Be prepared to draw from all areas of your soft skills and business acumen. The competition is open to students in all faculties and we encourage students with different academic levels to come together and learn from one another.

2) Network with CPA Members and employers

Looking for a co-op or internship? Want to expand your network? The CPABC Case Competition also includes a networking reception as part of the final case presentation day. CPA Member Ambassadors from industry, public practice and government are invited to attend and share their CPA journey with students. This exclusive opportunity is a great way to learn more about what it is like to be a CPA and hear advice from CPAs who have gone through the same experiences you have!

3) Travel to Vancouver with a subsidy

The CPABC Case Competition is designed so every student will have an equal opportunity to participate. Round 1 takes place in the comfort of your own home, allowing students to submit the case via video recording. Round 2 takes place in Vancouver’s Terminal City Club, intended to bring students to the heart of Vancouver’s business district. As a special feature, CPABC will provide travel subsidies for all students outside of the lower mainland. Students will not only experience the competition itself, but also enjoy an evening in Vancouver!

As an added bonus, the CPABC case competition is well recognized by members and employers throughout BC. Students who are aspiring CPAs can be sure this competition will help your resume stand out from the crowd!
